FAI F5D is the international class for remote controlled electric powered pylon racing model aircraft.
We race these models round a 400 meter triangular course at speeds close to 200mph for 10 laps. It now only takes the top pilots less than 60 seconds to complete the course which is faster than the noisy smelly IC powered relatives.
New for 2008 we have formed The UK F5D Association to look after the interests of Electric pylon racing. Through 2008 UK F5D Association will hold at least 6 League events at RAF Cottismore just off the A1 between Grantham & Peterbough. All are welcome to join in as long as its electric, fast and you can fly low and turn left!
The Premier event of the year will be the 3 day British National Championships at Barkstone Heath held over the August Bank Holiday weekend. This year’s event is promising to be the biggest so far with a few teams from Europe threatening to attend as a warm up to the World Championships in Ukraine the following month. Whether they turn up or not you can be sure the Current 3 times Champion will be there defending his title against all comers.
During 2008 UK F5D will also be showcasing their models at various shows up and down Britain with Britain's number 1 & 2 pilots Pilots showing what they have got alongside our Junior pilot Olli Witt who is already known as one of Britain's Fastest show Pilots. They will be flying with the Overlander team who sponcerd Rob, Paul & Olli through 2007 and all are very grateful of the Cells, motors and speed controllers that Overlander are continuing to supply for 2008.
