I tried some wing ID stickers on my Viper Saturday.I wraped a four inch wide
(100mm)piece around the leading edge from the aileron hinge to the aileron gap.
The bad news is it does affect the flight somewhat. The good news is not by much.
It seamed to hold knife edge flight better with the sticker so if you have one of those
planes that falls in knife edge flight then you will love the stickers. Delbert

I had been chatting this Sticker issue over with the UK TM Sunday and had not thought about the D05 issue which is worse than a Viper but either way it needs addressing. Monday I emailed Colleen who I have been chatting with Via Email ever since the Jetti Radio issue cropped up to ask who can clarify the extra weight Issue.

I know that in 2007 the UK F3D team got together with a few other teams and made official protest about the stickers and different launch requirements used in Muncie and this got nowhere as it’s a local rule.

My understanding is that from a marshal point of view is it works excellent and makes a smooth running event so we need to support it. On the down side F3D models are bigger and heavier and I am sure a little bit of sticky tape on the wing makes no difference at all. To us running to very tight tolerances I see it making a massive difference.

I will post here when I get a reply.

Cheers

I emailed Coleen and asked if the official weight would be with or without the stickers. Her reply was a quote from the rule book, which could not possibly have foreseen ID wing stickers.Personally I think the official weight will be weighed with the stickers on.
Also we held an Electric F1 race today using the same firm ware as we will be using in Muncie.I am pleased to report that it works flawlessly.

Something we'll need to sort out at the 1st Team Managers Meeting then.
I think I'm ok, but I may have to remove some ballast to accomodate.
(and then replace it after the comp has finished and stickers removed)

Any news on a practice site?

There is a helecopter competition happening on the pylon site until the open race starts on the 18th.
But the facility is huge and Coleen indicated that there would be other areas to test fly and practice.
Roy gave his seal of aproval to the Signature Inn.He also arranged to rent a golf cart for the competition.
The Americans will have one too.I'm all for exercise but Roy says it is a longer hike to the start line than our own
field which is about 150m.They can be arranged though the AMA but cheaper if you DIY.
